My Thoughts

Evolution Tools are a well known UK brand. They are very popular because they offer good quality tools at affordable prices. That is exactly what you get with this circular saw. I have used this one many times and it cuts well for both straight cuts and angled cuts. These tools used multi-material blades which means they can also cut through nails without damaging the blade.

• Blade size 185mm, which is a very useful size
• Cutting depth of 60mm at 90° and 40mm at 45°
• Easy and fast blade changes

2. Hychika Circular Saw - under £50

My Thoughts

Hychika are not a well known brand, but they are popular because they offer good quality tools at affordable prices. That is exactly what you get with this circular saw. I have used this one a few times and it cuts well for both straight cuts and angled cuts. There are no fancy features but it does all of the basic cutting really well.

The important things to know is that it can cut up to 65mm on a straight cut and up to 45mm on a 45 degree cut. It takes 185mm blades which are readily available in most DIY stores and online. Blade changing is the same as most other circular saws, by pushing in the spindle lock, and then releasing the nut using the supplied Allen key.

It's powerful enough for any DIY job around the home and garden. I think it's great value for money.

3. WORX WX423 Mini Circular Saw

My Thoughts

It might be worth considering a smaller compact circular saw. This really does depend on what jobs you plan on doing. They are more affordable than the larger circular saw and come with a choice of 3 blades for cutting different materials. They are also lighter to hold and handle and can be used with one hand.

The drawbacks are the cutting depth is smaller. These smaller saws mainly use 85mm blades with a cutting depth of around 27mm (1"). That won't work for all cuts, but good enough for decking boards, floorboards, laminate flooring, and cutting trim.
