Mini circular saws can be a very useful tool for DIY enthusiasts, tradespeople and some homeowners. If you are someone who is looking for an affordable compact mini circular saw, the Hychika model is well worth your consideration.
This is an 85mm saw, which I have used a lot, it's corded and comes with 3 blades to get you started. I have explained a lot more about this small circular saw below. The model number is ‎M1Y-DU05-85.
Product Overview

Just worth pointing out that this is a mini or small circular saw, so not the full blown type of circular saw.
With the right blade attached it can cut tile, wood, plastics, plaster board, wood and PVC with ease.
The compact saw comes with:
- A 30T HW for wood and plastic cuts
- A 36T HS for soft metal cuts and
- A grit diamond blade for ceramic tile cuts.

What this mini circular saw can be used for

Cutting
This saw can be used for cutting wood with a depth of up to 25mm (Almost 1"). With the right blade, it can also be used to cut other materials so it's quite versatile.
I do want to point out though that when I used it that if you force this, like a larger circular saw, it will wander off a straight line. You do have to go slower to allow the blade to cut and clear any sawdust along the way.
It can be used with one hand, as it's fairly light and it cuts really well.
I cut a few floorboards and decking boards and it did that easily. I also cut some MDF sheets (18mm) and it cut those well, as long as I didn't force the saw.
Main Uses
Applications | Description |
---|---|
DIYers | Hobbyists and DIYers looking for a versatile, compact cutting tool for various projects. |
Trades | Anyone working in a trade who needs a portable saw for on-site tasks requiring precision and maneuverability. |
Renovation/Building | Anyone doing home improvement projects, requiring a reliable cutting tool for diverse materials. |
My Overall Opinion
In summary, this small saw performs as well as similar brands like WORX. It is cheaper to buy, but the brand is not well known. They do have their own website. On there you can buy parts etc and showing a 2-5 day delivery to the UK. There is no issue buying circular saw blades in this size as both Saxton and Trend make blades in this size, which fit any brand of saw.
Hychika Comparison to Similar Small Circular Saws
I have included a comparison table just below. I have compared the Hychika to two other popular WORX models. The Hychika is slightly cheaper to buy, but there is no case, and the cutting depth is slightly smaller, and only half the size of the WORX 439 model. The cutting depth is the most important consideration and really depends on the depth of boards or material that you want to cut.

Our Summary
- This small saw does what it is supposed to do but has a limited cutting depth when compared to other options.
- I did want some type of case to keep this in and was disappointed that isn't the case
- The blades do work but they are just average quality, but at least you get 3 options which is a benefit
- Where this one stands out for me is if you can buy this for under £50, and you potentially can, then no question that would be good value for money
- It's easy enough to use but a tad clunky
