Electric or Cordless?

If you already own a Metabo power tool then as long as the battery is compatible, the best option would be to buy a "tool only" mitre saw and use the battery pack and charger that you have. If you don't have a battery then you will need to buy the saw, battery and charger and that can get really expensive. A typical battery and charger pack for Makita tools is around £100
Corded Metabo Mitre Saw - The alternative to a cordless option is one that has an electric cord and you plug that into an electrical socket. In most cases this will be a cheaper option for home users. The disadvantage is that you do have an electrical lead and as such you lose portability.
So that is really your first big decision, and after that you have two more decisions to consider.
Compound or Sliding Compound Mitre Saw?
Compound Metabo Mitre Saw - This is a saw that can do straight cuts, mitre cuts, and bevel cuts. The saw has a general name of a compound saw as it can also do compound cuts, which is a combination of a bevel and a mitre cut.
