Best Bosch Jigsaw Blades for Wood (Including Fine Cuts)
Just below we have listed all of the Bosch jigsaw blades designed and manufactured specifically to saw through various types of wood. The important things to remember is the depth of cut, and the teeth per inch (tpi)
The depth is important as it dictates what thickness of wood you can cut through such as a simple floorboard or something as thick as a countertop or door.
The teeth per inch dictates how fine the cut will be. The higher this number, the finer the cut.
We have provided a link to Amazon UK, where the blades are available. If you see a N/A indicator, Amazon don't sell them, but you "may" be able to get them at the Bosch website or at other locations. It is worth knowing that Bosch identify their blades with Bosch jigsaw blade numbers.

What are Bosch Jigsaw Blades Made from?
Bosch jigsaw blades are made from different types of metal and we have listed these below. It is worth noting that some manufacturers, including Bosch, may use combinations of the metals shown below to make their blades.
- Bimetal - These are a combination of high carbon steel and high speed steel and can cut wood, laminates and some metals. These are durable blades with good flexibility, and although slightly more expensive, tend to last long and seldom break.
- High Carbon Steel (HCS) - suitable for cutting wood and plastic and good for shape cutting or scrolling. These blades are pretty flexible and will only break if you really push too hard
- High Speed Steel (HSS) - suitable for cutting non ferrous metals (aluminium, nickel, tin, brass silver, zinc)and acrylics. These blades are very rigid so tend to break easier if you put too much pressure on them.
- Tungsten Carbide - These are for tougher rougher jobs like cutting through wood with nails in it
- Tungsten Carbide Grit- the really heavy duty jigsaw blade for cutting glass, bricks, tiles and concrete
Different Types of Bosch Jigsaw Blade Teeth
The image above shows the different methods of setting teeth on a jigsaw blade. With Bosch blades, there are three main types:
- Milled Teeth - this type of setting on the teeth helps cut faster and reduce the wear and tear on a blade and means they will last a great deal longer
- Ground Teeth - this type of setting produces a much better finish, but they cut slower and they can get very hot.
- Wavy Teeth - you primarily find these on their metal cutting blades as these are a tougher type of teeth which are in a wave shaped pattern.
Unless you are doing really fine work, don't get hung up on the manufacturing process. Most Bosch blades will have milled teeth and they work perfectly well. For finer cuts when you are working with laminates or veneers, then ground teeth with a high teeth per inch settings is what you are after.
Bosch T-Shank and U-Shank Blades?
For years U-shaped blades dominated the market. That has been flipped on its head and now T-blades rule the world market. When buying a Bosch blade, this should be your most important consideration. The way the blade is inserted into the saw can be done in one of two methods as explained below:
- U-Shaped - You will find this style on older models of jigsaw. The U-shaped part is at the top of the blade, and it slides into the jigsaw, and is then clamped in place using a small screw or a small Allen style screw. Although this system works, it made the process of changing a blade slow and very fiddly. If you ever lost the small screw, then it was a huge pain to get a replacement.
- T-Shaped - these now dominate the UK market, and are designed to push in to your jigsaw and lock into place, without the need for and tools or screws. They essentially slide into the jigsaw and are released using a quick release clamp. That makes changing a blade very fast, and is described by manufacturers as a tool less blade change. (In the UK market 90% of all current jigsaw makes and models use these)
Bosch still make both types of blades. The model numbers of the blades are good indicators as the model number for a U-shaped blade beings with a "U" and for T-shaped it is a "T". It is however becoming more difficult to find U-shaped blades.
As you can see, Bosch certainly make a lot of blades, and are according to our research, the biggest producer of these in the UK. We shall conclude this article by explaining a few basics that you should consider.
Most users will need to buy T-shank blades but it is always worth checking just to be sure. After you have figured that one out, then it is really about what material you want to cut through. For the vast majority of people that will be wood.
The next thing to do is to check the depth of wood you will be cutting. It could be anything from skirting boards, shelves, trim, doors, cupboards, flooring or decking boards etc. The list is a long one. Just check the cutting length of the blade and be sure is is long enough to cut through whatever project you are working on.
Finally you want to consider the fineness of the cut. On most projects a normal blade cut is fine, so a blade with 6-8 teeth per inch is ideal. However, where a really nice finish is important, then get a blade with more teeth per inch.
For laminate flooring or laminates and veneers generally speaking, get a blade with reverse teeth, that cuts on the down cut.
You can buy Bosch jigsaw blades at B&Q, Screwfix and most good hardware stores. You can also buy them online in many online stores such as Amazon UK.
